My name is Amy Weaver, and I used to be a racehorse trainer in Newmarket, England and Chantilly, France, but I got bored of that, so I ran away to sea to be a card dealer instead. To let everyone know where I’d disappeared to and what I was up to, I decided to write a blog, because I was too lazy to message and reply to everyone individually. #Sorry #TrueStory

Here’s how the blog got its name:

As The Beach Boys sang (although personally I prefer the Muppets version https://youtu.be/y3ii-Df1Hs8) “Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I want to take ya to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don’t we go
Ooh I want to take you down to
Kokomo, we’ll get there fast and then we’ll take it slow
That’s where we want to go, way down in Kokomo”

Those were just some of the places that I visited, since October 2015, during my first 9 months as a casino dealer for Norwegian Cruise Lines, on the good ship Norwegian Dawn. I blogged about it daily, every single goddam day, for 240+ days.

You can go back and read about all of that now and also follow my current cruise ship crew member travels as well.

After the NCL Dawn and NCL Jewel, I am now working on the TUI Discovery, although at this precise moment I’m vacation. Working hard. Girl Friday by day. Toy Tycoon by night. My life is very varied and very mental, so don’t worry if you can’t keep up!

Hope it makes a bit more sense when you read it now!
Altogether Now – “Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I want to take you…”

*Disclaimer: All of the following posts are entirely my own thoughts and interpretations of events. They have nothing to do whatsoever with my current or former fantastic employers, TUI or Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. If any information contained here is incorrect, I apologise, but there’s only so many things I can hold in my tiny head at one time. In some cases I reserve the right to use a little artistic licence to a) shorten a post or b) make it sound a bit more intresting (I’m not fabricating whole days though, I really am that stupid/lost that many times). I sincerely hope that you enjoy reading the content. It takes me bloody ages to write it each day. So sit back, relax and enjoy, but ffs please don’t sue me. I don’t have any money anyway!

I’m loving reading about your day to day adventures with NCL. We got off the Breakaway less than two weeks and your blog is helping me to get my daily cruise fix, even if is from a different viewpoint! We’ve done the behind the scenes tour on the Breakaway so I’m picturing that ship’s I95, crew mess, laundry, etc as I read your blog. It’s great to hear that those “Vacation Hero” cards we fill out do actually get looked at. Keep writing – I’ll keep reading!

Looking forward to follow your daily posts. We are coming aboard at the end Of August and CANNOT WAIT.
The Dawn was our honeymoon cruise back in 2004!

Just discover your blog via a link on Cruise Critic, really love your descriptive on the life on the Dawn. Especially the “dry dock” update.
We sailed on the Dawn for the first time in 2006 and had been back many times since. We will be back in October for the 2 weeks Boston to NOLA. If you are still on board, we may just run into you in the hallway, unlikely in the casino as we are not a big fan.
Cheers, keep up the good work !
